Lech Walensa, Desmond Tutu, and Nelson Mandela come to mind also.
Peace in Sri Lanka would give both ethnic groups (Singhalese and Tamils) a better chance to improve their lives in a stable country.
We urge Tamils, friends, and concerned people anywhere in the world (including Sri Lanka) to participate in this endeavor. After a few weeks, we will post all the nominees on our website. Some time after posting, we will ask our Tamil friends to vote for their choice for the Nobel Peace Prize nomination. After finding the nominee, we will start to campaign to make this dream come true.
How do we find a person who might appeal to the Nobel Prize committee?

Perhaps there is a humanitarian worker in the north or east.
| |
We might find a member from a charitable organization or NGO who has helped people during the conflict |
| |
(or after the
tsunami) and has brought relief to those who suffered. |
There may be a candidate among human rights advocates.
We wonder if there may be a person in north or east Sri Lanka among the clergy (Martin Luther King, Desmond |
| |
Tutu, and Mother Theresa were all religious people who won Nobel prizes.) Anyone, including clergy, who works with the International communities, should be considered. This is especially true if the person works visibly among the suffering people. |
| |
Any person who has made significant efforts to help people in Tamil areas of Sri Lanka during this time of civil |
| |
war could be an appropriate nominee. |
Please send your suggestions by filling in the Nomination Page.
Thank you,
Tamil Nobel Laureate Nomination Committee.
